All hardware required by building codes are used including: joist hangers, stringer hangers, hurricane clips, footing to post connectors and post to beam connectors.
Posts on Footings

Concrete footings will be poured for all required posts necessary for the size of the structure. Footing to post connectors will be used to anchor the posts directly to the footings.

These structural beams will rest on all footings/posts and span the entire structure. Fully supporting all of the joists and therefore, the entire deck!

Joist spacing matters! Too large and the deck boards will sag or give out entirely. Nelson Woodcraft follows the 16” on Center per building code.

As an extra preventative against rot, joist tape is applied to the top of the entire frame of the deck. This creates a barrier against any moisture that likes to sit between the deck boards and the frame.

Not just an aesthetic piece of the deck! Railings need to be as sturdy as the rest of the structure. That is why we only put 4’ between all railing posts. We don’t stop there… all railing posts are also blocked into the inside of the deck frame and secured with (2) lag bolts each.
We also install composite!
Trex: Composite Decking
Nelson Woodcraft has the experience and knowledge to install your composite decking! We are committed to using quality materials and that is why we only use Trex composite decking materials for a long lasting solution.
As of 2024, we are also a certified TrexPro installer for their decking and railing products. This allows us to provide an additional labor warranty, as well as, the material warranty. Your project will be registered immediately after it is installed!
